UPDATE: One dead, one injured in wreck at Highway 101 at Burton’s Store

Update: 12 p.m. :

Georgia State Patrol provided some additional details about the Saturday night wreck that saw one dead and one injured on Highway 101.

Officials reported that at 8:59 p.m. on Saturday, May 29, a white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was traveling west on Live Oak Road. The black Yamaha custom motorcycle being driven by James Harold Hulsey, 53, was heading north on Highway 101 at the same time.

The GSP reported that the driver of the pickup truck failed to yield when coming up on Live Oak Road (which across Highway 101 turns into Collard Valley Road) and the left side of the truck made contact with the front of the motorcycle.

Official reports are incomplete at this time. There’s still no word on the condition of the passenger on the motorcycle as well.

Update 11:10 a.m.:

A man died on his way to Floyd Medical Center for emergency treatment following a wreck involving a motorcycle late Saturday night.

Polk County Coroner Norman Smith said the next of kin have been notified of the death of James Harold Hulsey, 53, who died of injuries sustained when his motorcycle was struck by another vehicle sometime between 11 and 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 29 at Highway 101 and Collard Valley Road.

Hulsey was being transported by EMS to Floyd Medical Center when he passed from his injuries, Smith explained.

His body is being transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for further autopsy.

Smith said details about the condition of the passenger on the motorcycle were still unavailable as of this morning.

Georgia State Patrol is investigating the wreck. The agency has been sought for additional information.

Full details are not yet available, but one person has died in a wreck at the intersection of Highway 101 at Collard Valley Road where Burton’s Store is located in the Aragon area.

According to Polk County Coroner Norman Smith, one victim has been reported to have died in the wreck and another was airlifted to an Atlanta-area medical center for treatment.

Specific details about the wreck have not yet been made available, but Georgia State Patrol was called in to investigate the wreck.

My sister Sandy Mabie, was the passenger on the motorcycle wreck in argon Polk County on I believe to be May 28, 2021.. She came home today from Grady Hospital with a cracked neck, few broken ribs, pelvic bone broken in 3 different places, broken wrist and thumb, also had to have reconstructive surgery on her right leg but most of all her heart is terribly broken from the lost of her boyfriend whom she absolutely loves with her whole heart and soul..Prayers are needed at this time for her to start physically mentally and emotionally go through the healing process…Jesus please wrap your arms around my sister as she needs you the most right now.. ???????????????? My Mother Was Involved In The Motorcycle Wreck May 29th, 2021. She Was The Passenger & Her Boyfriend Was The Driver. My Mother Was Seriously Injured And Has Just Returned Home From Grady Hospital Where She Was Life Flighted Too. After She Came Home, My Sister Had To Take My Mother Back To The Hospital & Was Informed She Had Some More Injuries That Was Never Brought To Her Attention Or The Family, Grady Hospital Never Spoke Of These, They Never Put It On Her Paperwork Either. Not Only Is She Suffering The Injuries From The Wreck But She Is Also Suffering A Tragic Memory Of Losing The Man She Loved & That Will Forever Be A Tragic Memory She Will Never Be Able To Forget. Both Families Are Numb To The Pain This Night Has Caused. And If Everyone Would Please Keep My Mother & The Loss Of her Boyfriend & The Grieving Of His Family In Your Thoughts & Prayers. Thank You To The Ones Who Have Reached Out To Ask If The Ones Involved Was Okay. We Are Blessed To Have My Mother & Heartbroken Over Our Loss.

My name is Sandy Mabie . Im the passenger of the motor cycle. I just wanted to give you all a update. As you all see I’m alive but I sustain multiple injuries from the wreck. Most of all I lost someone who was very special to me and that alone is hard enough. Im asking everyone who may read this Im searching for a couple of people who stood me during this horrific tragedy I cant tell there names but they were by my side the entire time until the emts showed up. I do know there was one man if not mistaking he was a volunteer fireman . and 2 lady’s. Please if you have any info on these 3 it would greatly appreciated if you could tell them im trying to reach and find these 3. Im desperate in locating the 3. I will forever honor and respect these 3 if it wasnt for them i could possibly have not made it my self. If anyone has any info please contact me 678 855 2901. Now lets move on to my boyfriend .
