Juried Art Exhibit coming up to start 2021 at Rockmart Art Gallery

As the “Angels Among Us” exhibit wrapped up to close out the last 2020 art exhibit at the Rockmart Art Gallery, the Rockmart Cultural Art Center is preparing for their next show that begins in January.

The RCAC’s opening exhibit of the year is the Juried Art Show 2021, featuring work from 30 Northwest Georgia artists – and several from Polk County.

Opening 2021 with artwork themed on the Artist’s Choice for what to share, the juror for this year’s show is Atlanta artist Shane McDonald.

Five different categories will offer artists the chance to win cash awards and ribbons for their work.

Local residents and visitors alike can take part from January 14 to March 11, and join in the reception and Award ceremony being held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Featured Artists in this exhibit this year include Kiki Alexander, Carol Anderson, Peri Aplin, Elda Arias, Gary Baughman, Bruce Bell, Kathleen Borchelt, Mary Cash, Darby Chism, Judy Cooper, Paul Craighead, Beverly Culver, Clare Gilliland, Trudie Goss, Wendy Herubin, James Hill, Pat Houser, Bill Kettering, Marcella Kuykendall, Elizabeth Mobley, Margie Monde, Cecilie Redding, Lee Simpkins, Stella Spyrou, Myra Stephenson, Pat Stephenson, Kathy Torres, Debra Wade-Eulau, Patty Ward, and Susan Waters.

This is an amazing exhibit with so many different styles and mediums. Definitely one to see in person. From a huge quilt with 2,020 different pieces in it, 3 dimensional works in clay and wood, paintings, drawings, photographs, dragon made out of fabric and more. The theme was Artist Choice, so the 30 artists got to choose their favorite pieces they made from the past 3 years. Fun to see and get excited about creating!
