After a hard five-day push with the help of volunteers from around the community, the donation-funded new Peek Park Playground is MOSTLY done.
The playground still has finishing touches and fencing to put up, but the large group of workers who pitched in from Wednesday, March 20 through Sunday, March 24 got the main structure completed for the new playground. Zip lines are up, swing sets frames are standing, and the main structure is mainly done.
As of this morning, workers were out putting down a coating of the rubberized play surface over portions of the playground space after beginning the process at the start of the week.




City Manager Edward Guzman reported that with this much work completed, the city is hoping Public Works and Parks and Recreation officials will be able to finish up the last remaining details and fencing at the playground before the Cedar Valley Arts Festival in late April.
For the immediate moment, the playground remains closed to the public. Additional information will follow about when it will open.
