The Rockmar Lady Jackets softball team finished up their season last week after one last homestand that came out with a win, but fell in region play in the last match on the road.
Senior Night saw the Woodland Lady Wildcats come to play against Cedartown, and the Lady Jackets came away with a 2-0 win as Rockmart honored a pair of young ladies who finished up their final season in volleyball last week.
Megan Clanton, who wears the No. 20 jersey for Rockmart and is the daughter of Tony and Nancy Clanton, was honored alongside Allie Goodson, No. 9 on the roster and daughter of Shannon and Lydia Goodson.
Clanton and Goodson were team captains for this year’s varsity squad, and both still have time left to play this year in spring sports before they join the Class of 2022 this coming May during graduation ceremonies. Clanton will be taking to the tennis court with the Lady Jackets after the beginning of the year, and Goodson will be heading onto the pitch for the Lady Jackets soccer program.
Academics are not pushed to the side as both girls are honor students at Rockmart High School. They believe that hard work in the classroom and on the court is a testimony to their character.
Though the Lady Jackets pulled out a win on Oct. 12 for their homestand on Senior Night, the season ended on Oct. 14 for Rockmart with one last loss.
They fell 2-0 to the Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe Lady Warriors in one last road trip.
Rockmart finished their year 7-32-1 on the year.
