Tigers play Wake Forest on Monday evening in next round
Pizza Farm donned purple for the Louisiana State Tigers baseball team as they took their latest win over SEC foe Tennessee in the latest round of the NCAA Division I College World Series on Saturday.
Ty Floyd is likely going to get the start Monday evening as the Tigers take the field in the next game against Wake Forest, which also will determine who stays in the winner’s bracket and head to the finals.
Floyd has a real challenge on Monday – if he gets the start. The Demon Deacons came into the tournament with ranked tops in the country. If Floyd’s powerful pitching can keep the Wake Forest bats quiet, he’ll give the Tigers a chance to get the break they need to move forward.

Meanwhile, the local love for Floyd and LSU is growing. Ahead of the 6-3 win over Tennessee on Saturday, Pizza Farm donned LSU shirts with Floyd’s name and number on the back to show support for the Rockmart native and the rest of his team’s quest to win the CWS. Here’s what they posted along with the above photo:
“The Pizza Farm family and the entire Rockmart community are proud to show our support for Rockmart native pitcher Ty Floyd in his pursuit of a college World Series with LSU.
As a community, we know the importance of supporting our own and we are proud to stand behind Ty as he represents Rockmart on a national stage. We will be following his progress closely and cheering him on every step of the way.
We wish Ty and his team the best of luck as they pursue a college World Series title, and we are grateful to have such a talented athlete representing our community.”
Floyd pitched most recently in the super-regional win over Kentucky and got through picking up a win after help from the bullpen and the offense blasting back over the Wildcats.
Check back on Tuesday to see if – and how, we hope – the Rockmart High standout pitcher performs on the mound in the CWS game against Wake Forest.
