The Rockmart Yellow Jackets are once again champs, this time as a team in wrestling.

The Jackets traveled to Stephens County to take part in the Elite Eight round and championships for the Team Duals, and today they grappled their way to their first state Team Duals title after winning out in 2021.

Rockmart took a 31-30 victory over Gilmer County to take the championship in Class AAA. They got to the match after a first round 70-10 victory over North Murray, then overtaking Sonoraville 47-22 in the semifinals to advance.

Gilmer held off Murray County and Adairsville to advance to the championship round and take the runner-up spot.

Rockmart wrestlers won out in 2021 in traditionals, and look to repeat again this year as well.

Jacket wrestlers have individually and in traditionals put up a three-peat from 1972 to 1974, and have put up back-to-back wins again in 1984 and 1985, and then 2002 and 2003.

This was their first title as a team in state duals wrestling. They took a traditional title in 2021.
