The Rockmart Lady Jackets are back on the softball diamond on Wednesday and are taking a trip northward in region play in hopes of staying ahead of the competition and maybe making another run at state.

Their last win on Sept. 2 came with a 12-2 victory over North Murray in region play, moving them to second place (but tied at 5-0) with the top-ranked team in the state in the Sonoraville Lady Phoenix.

On Wednesday, they are back in region play with a trip to play Murray County in Chatsworth. The Lady Indians sit at 3-9 overall and took a 14-6 loss to the Lady Jackets back on August 12, and stand in seventh place at 1-4 in region play on the year so far.

Rockmart stands at 8-2 overall and are thus far undefeated in region play, set to finally play the top team in the state against Sonoraville on Thursday afternoon at home at 5:30 p.m.

Per ScoreATL’s latest rankings released earlier today, the Lady Jackets sit in 10th place overall compared to region foe Sonoraville.

The Lady Phoenix and the Lady Jackets haven’t faced each other this year.

Rockmart also has six games in eight days starting on Sept. 13 through Sept. 20, four out of six of those against region foes.
