The Rockmart Lady Jackets controlled on offense and defense on Wednesday and shutout the Cedartown Lady Bulldogs with an win to remain perfect.

Rockmart put up a run in the second, fourth and then two innings of three runs apiece to come out with an 8-0 victory that ended in the sixth inning on August 9.

That included a standup double that almost became a homer off the bat of Briley King, who got driven home by an RBI double.

The Lady Jackets moved to 5-0 with the victory after their opening weekend run of wins during tournament play.

Cedartown finds themselves on a two-game skid with Wednesday’s loss after they fell to Bremen 3-1 at home and moved to 1-2.

The Lady Bulldogs have a chance to get back on track with a trip to Armuchee on Thursday at 5 p.m. up in Floyd County. They also have tournament play against Haralson County and Mt. Zion Carroll on Saturday in Tallapoosa.

Rockmart is back in action next week when Cedartown hosts Rockmart on Wednesday, August 16.
