Photos contributed by Shelly Culver.

The Rockmart Lady Jackets have just one more win to go to win a state title for the second time in four seasons, but they have one more matchup to go in order to claim the title later this evening.

The Lady Jackets took a win over Oconee County in a 7-2 finish in the first game of the final four round, and then defeated region foe Ringgold 7-6 to advance to the title game, and will play the winner of Pike County and Ringgold from the losers bracket to determine who will be their opponent.

Rockmart’s second win came at the end against region foe Ringgold, with a play at the plate to add the final run to the scoreboard for the Lady Jackets thanks to a slide into home plate by Brooklyn Phillips.

Ringgold and Pike start their game at 2 p.m. today after a busy Friday in Columbus. The Lady Jackets play the winner at 4 p.m.

With the pair of wins, it moved Rockmart to 28-9 overall. They came into the playoffs as the third seed and defeated Lumpkin County, Sandy Creek and South Bulloch to advance to the final four round.

Rockmart went this far four seasons ago back in 2017, when the Lady Jackets won a state title in Class AA softball with wins over Jasper County to come home with the gold.

Check back tonight for how the Lady Jackets fared against the winner of the Ringgold/Pike County game.
