The Cedartown Lady Bulldogs are heading to the second round of the State 4A playoffs after taking their first-round sweep over Hampton on Tuesday.
Cedartown took a 5-3 win in Game 1, then finished off the Lady Hornets with a 5-4 win to head home from Henry County in southwest Georgia to open the state playoffs.
The Lady Bulldogs put up a nine-inning performance to beat Hampton in the first game, and the Lady Bulldogs went seven to finish off the Lady Hornets in the second game.
The Lady Bulldogs finished their regular season with a sweep of Northwest Whitfield to secure their fourth-place playoff spot.
After beating the top team in Region 5-AAAA, the Lady Bulldogs now face off against Cairo from Region 1 in the second – Sweet Sixteen – round of the State 4A playoffs.
Cedartown travels to Cairo next week to face the Lady Syrupmakers squad who are 15-10 on the season and finished third place in Region 1.
They took a 15-3, 7-1 sweep of Jenkins in the first round to advance to host the Lady Bulldogs.
