The Cedartown Lady Bulldogs are back on the road today and coming off a positive region series against the Pickens County Dragonettes last week, but they have a big test on their season when they step up to the plate to face top-ranked Heritage-Catoosa.

The Lady Bulldogs moved to 6-8 overall and 2-4 in region play after taking a 2-1 series win over Pickens County in their first win on Thursday 8-5, then a 15-12 victory in the first of a doubleheader make-up at home against Jasper’s best.

Cedartown took a 10-6 loss to wrap up the series.

Of note from the trio of games later in the week in region play were a series of intentional walks for Marycille Brumby against the Dragonettes pitching staff. She was walked nine times during make-up games on Friday after Cedartown took their opening win against Pickens.

Here’s WGAA’s livestream of the games for those who want to catch up on the action:

With the pair of wins and the loss, the Lady Bulldogs now sit at 2-4 overall in region play and fourth behind Heritage, Northwest Whitfield, Central and Cedartown in the standings. The top three teams have thus far come out undefeated in region play, while fourth-place Cedartown remains in the playoff hunt for a chance at the 2021 postseason so long as they can remain in front of Pickens, Ridgeland and Southeast Whitfield.

Of those three teams, only Pickens has a single region win under their belt so far. The Lady Panthers are 0-5 on the season in 7-AAAA play, while the Lady Raiders are 0-4.

Cedartown is back in action today facing off against ScoreATL.com’s Class 4-A No. 1 team in the state. The Lady Generals have stayed in that position and remain ahead of other region foe (who swept the Lady Bulldogs) Central Carroll, who sits in second place in the Top 10 list.

The Lady Bulldogs will travel to Catoosa County for a pair of games today starting at 5 p.m., then host the Lady Generals on Thursday in the final game of the series at 5:30 p.m.

Coming up this weekend, the Lady Bulldogs will be playing in a tournament on the road against Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe on Friday, then South Paulding and Collins Hill on Saturday.

Check back for score updates as they become available on Wednesday.
