SOFTBALL: Lady Bulldogs swept in series against Central Carroll in Game 3 homestand

Bad news for Lady Bulldogs fans: though the squad put runs on the scoreboard, they weren’t able to overcome Central Carroll in the final game of the series at home on Thursday in region play.

The 10-2 loss came on the heels of a doubleheader on the road on Tuesday that saw Cedartown fall 4-2 in Game 1 and 8-4 in Game 2.

Cedartown’s 3-6 softball team finished up the first region series that wrapped up against the top team in Region 7-AAAA , with the Lady Bulldogs now in third place in region play and eighth in state rankings, though lower than other region foes on that list.

The Lady Lions now stand undefeated at 9-0 on the year and are second in the state in Class AAAA according to ScoreATL.com’s rankings. They have region foes Heritage-Catoosa in first on the year so far. The first-week rankings were available as of Tuesday.

The good news for the Lady Bulldogs is they have a chance to get a win back this weekend on Saturday as they have Haralson County on the schedule at 1 p.m. in Tallapoosa and another to follow against Mt. Zion to get themselves back toward the .500 mark.

They’ll host Pickens to get back into region play on Tuesday, Aug. 31 followed by an away game to finish up the three-game series on Sept. 2, and face Heritage on Sept. 7 and Sept. 9.
