The Cedartown Lady Bulldogs have a trip to Flowery Branch ahead of them for the second round of the playoffs after they put up a clean sweep of Druid Hills in two games, with a combined 37 runs scored in the trip to the metro Atlanta area earlier in the week on October 19.
Lady Bulldogs batters put up 20 runs in five innings over the Lady Red Devils, and another 17 in the second game in four innings to make it a clean sweep in the first round of the playoffs.
Cedartown advanced with a third seed opportunity to win over Druid Hills, who only had a handful of games on their schedule on the year (with what information was available at the time of writing this) and having won out over Northwest Whitfield in the final series of the regular season to settle the region 7-AAAA standings.
Reagan Clarke put up a five-inning performance for the opening playoff win over Druid Hills with giving up just two hits, a walk but put up nine strikeouts against the Lady Red Devils batting order.
Marycille Brumby put up a 3-run, 4 RBI performance with four appearances at the plate, and Taylor Westmoreland had five trips to the plate with four RBIs and two runs scored in a game with a lot of offense to celebrate.
In the second outing on the road trip, Emme Arp had to out for three innings of work and gave up no hits, a walk and two strikeouts in her winning outing.
Rosyln Blankenship went 3 for 4 at the plate in that game with a trio of RBIs score and two runs, and Alexas Poole went 2-for-2 her trips up to bat with a pair of RBIs and two runs, and scored her ninth homer of the season in another game with a lot of offense.
The Lady Bulldogs enter the second round of the playoffs with their next trip to Flowery Branch to face a 19-3 Lady Falcons squad who were ranked sixth in the state in Class AAAA by Score Atlanta heading into the final weeks of the regular season.
Cedartown plays on Thursday in the first match-up at 5 p.m., with the second to follow 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game 1.
