Last week, the Cedartown Lady Bulldogs finished out the regular season and clinched a third seed spot in the playoffs with a shutout win over Northwest Whitfield to round out the last region series of the year, and move onward toward a chance at a Class AAAA title.
Not that it won’t be an uphill battle.
But first, the Lady Bulldogs had to finish out the season. They initially split with the Lady Bruins on the road on October 6, each winning a game a piece. When they returned to Cedartown to complete the series, the Lady Bulldogs used the last homestand as an opportunity as well to show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and survivors of all ages.
This year’s honoree was PSD School Nurse Jill Collier Pilgrim, who took to the pitching circle to throw out the first pitch of the game and receive accolades and applause from the home crowd.
Cedartown finished off the Lady Bruins with the shutout off the arm of Reagan Clarke who kept the Northwest Whitfield offense quiet throughout the day.
With the win, the Lady Bulldogs head onward and upward in the playoffs with a trip to Druid Hills High School coming up next week. The Lady Red Devils took a second place finish in their region in the Atlanta-area, and with a 1-2 record on the year (note: that I can immediately find, including on GHSA’s region standings.)
