A pair of losses on their home turf to a top-ranked 4-A squad in Heritage (Catoosa) High School on Wednesday rounded out the latest double header for the Cedartown Lady Bulldogs, who remain ahead in their overall record but are behind a bit in the region hoping to make up some ground in the days to come.

Cedartown took a 10-0 loss to the Lady Generals at home in the first of two games on the day, and fell 6-4 in the second as they hit the road again to face Heritage one more time to round out their region series with the Catoosa County team. They’ll be playing on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in hopes of gaining a region win and get back into gear heading into the second half of the season.

The Lady Bulldogs sit at 9-6 overall after the pair of losses on Tuesday, and 3-5 (5th) in region play at the moment. Last week was their second round of region play having split with Pickens County in a three-game series with a pair of wins and a loss.

They took the first game 5-4 on the road against the Lady Dragons on the road, then fell 4-1 in the second in the double header. Cedartown returned home for the third game and took a 8-1 win to round out last week.

Prior to that, Cedartown split 1-2 in the three game series with Central to open region play in August, and in tournament play have gained wins over Haralson County, Mt. Zion, Murray County and Cass. They’ve fallen to Bremen in their only non-conference play. They’ve also picked up a season-opening win over Cartersville and won over Bowdon in recent weeks as well.

The big game for the Lady Bulldogs remains to be played and is coming up this Saturday against the Rockmart Lady Jackets. Make sure to stay tuned for video highlights from that game later this weekend.
