SOFTBALL: Cedartown Lady Dawgs on a winning streak, rained out today

Sometimes the weather just gets in the way of a good thing.

The Cedartown Lady Bulldogs have recovered after a recent slump and put up four in a row after they fell to Rockmart a second time in a homestand last week.

Now at 7-4, the Lady Bulldogs have racked up wins over Armuchee, Carrollton and two region wins over Southeast Whitfield to find themselves early in the season in a three-way tie for first place in 7-4A.

Cedartown was supposed to play against Haralson County in a homestand today, but the Lady Bulldogs found that weather got in the way of their momentum heading into a two-game region stand against Central Carroll on Tuesday and Thursday. A brief break in September means they get a chance to take their breath, if the weather doesn’t get in the way again for the rest of the week.

Showers are predicted on Tuesday, and chances for rain persist on Thursday.

After the Labor Day break, they’ve got Northwest Whitfield, in a one-game road stand on Sept. 7, then a grueling four-game stand trading places between Sonoraville and Bowdon between Sept. 12 and Sept. 18, then a two-game stand in region play on Sept. 19 and Sept. 21 against the Lady Bruins, and finish out the month against Heritage on Sept. 26 and Sept. 28.

Check back for more updates on weather delays if necessary for the rest of the week in the Lady Bulldogs schedule.
