When Senior Keyarah Berry finally gets to start her senior season this year, she’ll be assured that no matter what happens she’ll be heading off to a Division I basketball program in the fall of 2021.
Berry, who holds Rockmart High’s top scoring record overall after meeting that mark during the 2019-2020 season, will be heading off to Indiana University next year after signing paperwork making her commitment to the school official.
The senior was surrounded by family, friends, fellow teammates, head coach Andre Clark and administrators from Rockmart High School during a ceremony this morning in the signing room at the campus.
She’ll be heading to the Indiana University Lady Hoosier’s basketball program, who came off a 2019-2020 season with a 24-8 record, making it to the second round of the Big Ten tournament but falling to Maryland to end their season.
Berry has played all three years with the Lady Jackets in varsity. She began her career as a freshman with the 2017-18 squad that went 19-9 and made it to a first round playoff game, went 20-8 with the team her second year through three rounds, and then last year made it to the final four of the Class AA tournament during the 2019-20 season that concluded with a trip to Macon and a 23-7 finish to the season.
Rockmart is set to start the 2020-21 season in December, with a full schedule to follow.
