Rockmart hosting Trick or Treaters for Halloween in a drive-thru event

Downtown Rockmart’s annual Trick-or-Treat event may not be happening this year due to several factors, but the city isn’t going to let that get in the way of kids having a fun and safe time this Halloween.

On October 31 from 4 to 6 p.m., parents can bring their young goblins and ghouls down to the Nathan Dean Recreation Center off Nathan Dean Parkway and enjoy an alternative to the annual door-to-door candy collection by driving thru the park instead.

“We are excited to be able to celebrate the holiday with our employees here at the city, and hope that the public will take advantage of this opportunity to safely Trick-or-Treat during these difficult times,” said City Clerk Stacey Smith.

The event is free and open to the public, but participants are required to come in a vehicle and stay within on a route that starts with a drive in from the Prospect Road side of the park, and exit back onto Nathan Dean Parkway. Drivers will be directed around the parking lot and police will be in place to help keep traffic flowing safely for the two-hour event.

Again, ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST STAY IN THEIR VEHICLES.

City employees will be handing out candy during the event, and participants are encouraged to dress up and decorate their vehicles.
