The City of Rockmart provided their congratulations to a pair of firefighters who continue their service with the city during the October 13 City Council session and reached milestone anniversaries during the month of October.

Mayor Sherman Ross made presentations to Taylor Dewberry for five years of service with the department, and Jed Moore for 15 years at the beginning of the council meeting, with the families of the pair in attendance for the meeting to share in the occasion.

Along with the presentations, the council did take up votes to approve previous minutes, the latest financial reports for September, and two resolutions of note. One is for the beginning of the annexation of West Georgia Holdings into the city limits with the council’s unanimous approval for advertising the notice of a public hearing for the request for the property to come within the city limits.

The second resolution approved by the council called upon members to allow for the first step in the process of a LCWF grant application to move forward as city administration seeks to find funds to help with projects within the city.

As previously noted, the council did also approve the first steps to move forward with recreation sports and facility rentals starting in November.
