The Rockmart Recreation Department is set to start their spring season with hopes of bringing in a bunch of youth to participate in girls softball, continuing a trend of increased numbers from 2021.

Recreation Director Jeff Holstein said that signups begin on Saturday, January 8 and continue through the month until Jan. 29.

Fees are $60 for the first player, and $45 for a second child to sign up and participate in the leagues, which are set to start their season in mid-March.

Winter league play for basketball continues and has big numbers this year with more than 20 participating teams. Rockmart’s Recreation department has also been using gym space at local schools for teams to practice in the evenings prior to games.

Holstein passed along his thanks for the schools for helping provide space for the programs this winter.
