There’s an opportunity to doubly score at upcoming football games in a partnership with the Polk School District for helping protect the community from COVID-19.
The district announced on Wednesday that at the August 20 home game for kicking off the 2021 season at Rockmart High School when the Jackets face Rome, or at the August 27 Battle of Polk County game at Cedartown High School, appointments will be available to provide the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to local residents who sign up.
Here’s the posting from the PSD on Wednesday:

Cases are growing amid a new spike in the pandemic, with local tallies of PCR testing now at 4,203 since March 2020. That’s a jump from Tuesday of a new 39 cases to figures provided on Wednesday afternoon by the Georgia Department of Public Health.
Antigen positives since last Friday have jumped another 33 cases as well to 1,870 people since tracking began.
The number of hospitalizations has grown in the past days by another five since August 6 due to the virus.
