The votes came in and closed out on December 10, and you made the decision on who should be the first-ever Polk Sports Wire Fans Decide Player of the Year. 

That announcement was originally planned for December 15, but circumstances worked out in such a way that I wasn’t able to finish the video above on time.

Here’s some additional notes to go along with the Fans Decide Player of the Year:

• 196 votes were officially received through the Google Form here on PolkSportsWire.com.
• Dozens of nominations came in this year for Rockmart Senior Mason Phillips, who finished out his career getting to play under center in a playoff game for the Jackets in a backup role for the past several years.
• Three of the Top 5 players were also honored on region and statewide lists

PolkSportsWire will provide an opportunity in late February to nominate players for Fans Decide Player of the Year awards for boys and girls basketball for Cedartown and Rockmart players, along with additional sports in the coming spring and fall 2022 seasons.
