The Rockmart Yellow Jackets went through most of their schedule without any issues, but they ran into a wall this week after their latest region matchup with the LaFayette Ramblers got called off earlier this afternoon.
According to the Rockmart High School Facebook page, the Ramblers were forced to cancel the game due to COVID-19 cases within their organization, and they could potentially have to call off their final regular season game as well.
The Jackets will get the week off, and were supposed to celebrate Senior Night during the Nov. 13 home game that was set to be the final for the regular season.
Rockmart High principal Robyn Teems reported that they have rescheduled the evening celebration for seniors before the start of the game for the November 27 playoff game the Jackets will likely get to host since they are the only team to remain undefeated in 6-AAA.
No plans to reschedule the game before the end of the season are in place at this time, Teems added.
The Jackets sit at 7-1 with the week off before they travel to Ringgold for the final regular season game on November 20.
