Yes, your eyes are seeing this correctly. Football has finally returned to Polk County, though this time it was in scrimmage form ahead of the start of the 2020 season locally.
The Rockmart Black vs. Gold game was held Friday, and provided opportunity for the Jackets to split into two squads that went back and forth through four quarters of play before the Gold came out on top in a 29-25 finish.
The Jackets first official game of the season is coming up on September 4 when they travel to Rome to face the Wolves in what was supposed to be a double header featuring Carrollton and Cedartown in the Corky Kell Classic, but has instead become a solo game after first the event was called off, then Cedartown canceled their opener against Carrollton after COVID-19 quarantine was required for three key Bulldog players.
Note that this year’s seating will be limited for home and away games for football, and tickets will be going on sale ahead of games. More details on those plans to follow.
