A local quarterback who won a Georgia High School Football Daily statewide Player of the Week award for his playoff performance in the first round has found a team to play for when he graduates later this year.

Congratulations goes out to Rockmart senior Javin Whatley, who after several offers has committed to play for the University of Tennessee Chattanooga’s Mocs football program.

Whatley announced his intentions on Twitter. He headed up an offense this season that made it to the second round of the Class AAA playoffs and held Cedar Grove to three overtimes before falling in their first year in a new class.
