Win forces showdown between Ringgold, Rockmart at The Rock on Nov. 5
Another Region 6-AAA foe, another win completed for the Rockmart Yellow Jackets, who took a road victory over the LaFayette Ramblers and moved to 8-0 in region play and looks to the final game of the season as the Region Title with Ringgold.
The 38-30 victory didn’t come easy for the Jackets, who had to fight back with a 21-point fourth quarter and finish the game with taking a knee and escaping Walker County with a scare.
JD Davis once again took the Top Play of the Week when he ran 36-yards to cap off scoring for the night on a touchdown play in the fourth quarter and help put the game out of reach for LaFayette late.
Rockmart’s gain was the Rambler’s loss as they are now knocked out of contention for the playoffs, and kept the Jackets and Tigers in the top spots of the region and sets up next week’s confrontation for the final game of the regular season on November 5 as the region championship and a showdown for the year. Ringgold is coming off their latest win over Sonoraville this Friday; they remain undefeated on the year on the season with the 40-7 win over the Phoenix.
Beyond the battle for first place, Adairsville looks to have clinched the third place spot after a 47-18 win over North Murray; The Mountaineers are now in the fourth place spot after their loss on Friday.
Sonoraville is in fifth at 3-4 followed by LaFayette in sixth with the same record.
Coahulla Creek is 2-5 in seventh with a bye week at 4-5 on the year. They face Sonoraville this coming Friday.
And with a Thursday night victory (moved around because of a lack of officials for Friday,) LFO picked up a lone win over Murray County 31 to 14 to end the Indians season. Murray finished in ninth place in the region without a single victory in 6-AAA. LFO will play Adairsville this coming Friday with the chance to add another.
