FOOTBALL: Jackets hang tough against Tigers in 49-33 win

Rockmart moves to 7-1, heading into final stretch of regular season

The Jackets put on a big performance at home against the Adairsville Tigers to continue in their dominance of 6-AAA in Northwest Georgia, with only one real foe still to face later in the season: the Ringgold Tigers.

However, the Jackets facing the Adairsville Tigers took a 49-33 win, and even though the visitors were able to put up a decent amount of points against a defense not used to giving up single digits in a game and still face penalties aplenty.

JD Davis took the Play of the Week in this week’s highlight reel and finished with a big performance, putting up three touchdowns in the air and a fourth on the ground against the Tigers in the first half alone.

The win extends Rockmart’s streak to seven in a row and puts them at 7-1 on the year, the only loss thus far coming at the start of the year against Rome.

Quick recap of where the region stands for Rockmart:

Ringgold and Rockmart hold the first place spots – the Jackets technically in second – but both are tied in region play at 6-0 on the year, and Adairsville and North Murray are in third and fourth both at 4-2. LaFayette sits in fifth at 3-2, the sixth place Phoenix at 2-3, and Coahulla Creek is at 2-5 in region play at seventh. Taking up the last two spots are LFO and Murray County. Both teams remain without a region win.

Both the Warriors and Indians have at least one more chance this coming Friday to get a region win against one another.
