The Dawgs left no doubt as to their dominant position in 7-AAAA football after their latest win this past Friday night, even with teams like Cartersville in the mix this year. They started their second season of the year with the opening of region play against Allatoona with a 45-7 homestand to celebrate Cedar Hill Night and the legacy of championship teams locally.
The Bulldogs put up 24 in the first half, and added another 21 in the third quarter to roll over the Buccaneers in only the third meeting between the two squads as they returned to the same region for the first time since 2011.
Cedartown quarterback Isaiah Johnson went 7 for 10 and 138 yards and three touchdown passes on the region outing, with Demarcus Gardner, Chris Johnson and Tae Harris all grabbing touchdown passes on the night.
Harris also scored a touchdown on the ground, putting up 4 carries for 86 yards on the night (including a breakout 80 yard run.) Michael Gibbons Jr. and Juelz Davis also put up a touchdown on the ground.
Edgar Bermudez and Junior Castanon both went perfect for the night on the kicking game. Bermudez also put up a field goal from 41 yards out as well.
Overall, the Bulldogs put up 50 tackles on defense, the majority of those notched by Gibbons and Sam Smith, with contributions from all across the defense as everyone but Kobe Dorsey had at least one solo tackle on the night.
The Dawgs defense also grabbed two turnovers on the night.
Allatoona put up their only score of the night against the Bulldogs second team. They put up a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Cedartown remains at home this coming Friday night with their forthcoming region contest with Cass.
Cass fell to Hiram in a 41-28 game in White this past Friday night. They lost quarterback Ethan Latimore due to injury during the loss to the Hornets, with sophomore Caleb Carmichael now playing under center for the Colonels.
Cedartown, Hiram and Cass are at the top of the region with Cass, Woodland, Allatoona and Dalton on the bottom end of the standings.
Southeast Whitfield is not playing a 7-AAAA football schedule this year, with their only region foe being Woodland later in the year.
