The City of Rockmart showed their appreciation to employees who have stayed on the job through many years of hard work.

Detective Jerry Amos and Sgt. Jeremy Walters were honored for their time on the job during the council’s February 9 session. Walters has served with the Rockmart Police for 15 years, and Det. Amos celebrated his 10th anniversary with the department this year. Mayor Sherman Ross handed out plaques to the two officers recognizing their service for the city.

Additionally, Rockmart Firefighters Dalton Kerr and Jeffrey Williams were recognized for their five years of service, along with the Recreation Department’s Robert Torline, who has served for five years.

The council also took up a quick round of votes on procedural matters, but had no old or new business to vote on for the February council session.

The Rockmart City Council meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at city hall. Meetings are open to the public. Their next session will be held on Tuesday, March 9.
