As football wanes away, basketball is coming right up the court in November as scrimmages ahead of the regular season are getting underway and Cedartown and Rockmart teams prepare for big battles coming up on the schedule.
The Rockmart boys team took a win on Tuesday in their first matchup in scrimmage play against Bremen in a 68-39 finish. Treylin Davis put up 20 points and grabbed up 8 rebounds in the victory, along with Sam Johnson who put up 16 on the night in their opening scrimmage.

Rockmart’s girls with Coach Steve Luke at the helm also played in scrimmage action on Tuesday on the road, falling 53-51 to the Lady Blue Devils.
Both teams are back in action this coming Tuesday, November 21 to open their season at home against the Mt. Zion Carroll squads. JV opens the evening at 4:30 p.m., with girls up first at 6 p.m. in varsity play and 7:30 p.m. for the boys.
Following the Thanksgiving break, Rockmart is back at home hosting Chattooga on November 28 to close out the month. Boys and girls squads will be in action. The December 1 game against Bowdon following that opens the month of December.

Recent days also saw the Cedartown Lady Bulldogs squad in action. They picked up a win in their first scrimmage on November 9. The Lady Bulldogs topped the Gordon Central Lady Warriors in a 59-48 victory in the game that doesn’t count on the record.
The Cedartown Lady Bulldogs open their season in tournament play coming up on Monday, November 20 in a Thanksgiving tournament at Gordon Central. Additional games are possible after, but a bracket wasn’t immediately available.
Cedartown goes to Heard County to play on December 2 in an afternoon game, and then head to Armuchee on December 5.
