A big opening night for the Rockmart Yellow Jackets ended with a double-digit win and some first quarter shots that really got the boys squad rolling for the season.

Rockmart topped Mt. Zion (Carroll) in a 73-42 victory, taking an opening double-digit run in the first after several three pointers from seniors Sam Johnson and Treylin Davis, as well as a huge statement-making dunk by Davis in the opening seven minutes. Rockmart’s victory came off the heels of a scrimmage win on the road at Bremen, and now the Jackets are getting a short Thanksgiving break before their schedule resumes for the 2023-24 winter season.

Rockmart hosts Chattooga this coming Tuesday, November 28, then Bowdon on Friday, December 1 before one more homestand against Heard County on December 5.

The Jackets then begin region play on December 8 on the road at Gordon Central, travel the next day to Cartersville on December 9, and round out the first half of the month with a homestand against Murray County in region play on December 15, a trip to Chattooga the following night, and facing Haralson at Home before the Christmas break on December 19.

They’ll be in holiday tournament play after the break on December 27 at Hokes Bluff, with games to follow TBD on December 28 and 29.
