Jackets move to 7-5 on the year, 2-4 in region play
The Rockmart Yellow Jackets were determined to dominate against Ringgold on Tuesday night, and they came away with a nine-point victory on their home turf as the Tigers came to town.
Rockmart held onto a 10-point lead after the first half, and then added 25 points in the third quarter before Ringgold tried to mount a comeback in the fourth, but the Jackets held tough and took the win.
Senior big-man Damian Horton put up two dunks (that counted) during the first half of play, and Jakari Clark proved effective on the inside under the basket.
With the victory, the Jackets remain above .500 on the season and took their fourth game in a row as they get ready for a long stretch of road games.
Rockmart heads to North Murray on Friday night to face the Mountaineers, then has a drive up to Dalton for an evening contest against Coahulla Creek in region play on Jan. 10.
Following that, they head to Adairsville on Jan. 14, a non-region game against Chattooga on Jan. 15, back into region play against Sonoraville on Jan. 18, then LaFayette on Jan. 21, and a scheduled showdown with Cedartown on Jan. 22 before they finally come home again on Jan. 25 to host a return matchup in region play against Coahulla Creek.
Check back on Sunday for the first Hoops Highlights show with coverage from Tuesday games at Rockmart, and Saturday games at Cedartown.
