The Cedartown Lady Jackets built upon some progress from their 2022-23 campaign, but the breaks didn’t go their way as they finished their season on the road in the opening round of the playoffs to Holy Innocents on Tuesday.
The Lady Golden Bears topped the Lady Bulldogs in a 88-23 finish to the season. Full stats weren’t immediately available for the game.
Cedartown finished their season at 10-18 overall, finishing in fourth place in Region 7-4A with a 4-6 record. The Lady Bulldogs fell in both their region tourney games to Sonoraville and Northwest Whitfield, but stayed alive to sneak in for a playoff appearance to cap the season.
Holy Innocents goes onto play Luella in the Sweet 16 round of the playoffs after their win over Cedartown.
The region champion Sonoraville Lady Phoenix advanced to the Sweet 16 after their win over Westminster 72-53, and face North Oconee in the next round. The Lady Bruins at Northwest fell to Southwest DeKalb to wrap their season, and Heritage-Catoosa in the runner-up spot in 7-4A advanced to face Chestatee in the second round after a 61-40 win over Stephenson.
