Rockmart has bounced back and remains over .500 on their record after they swept Gordon Central in their region opener earlier this week.

The Jackets sit at 6-4 on the season after a trio of wins over the Warriors. They took a 11-1 victory in Game 1 of a double header a home (which was also Senior Night) and then put up a 15-0 shutout in Game 2.

Rockmart celebrated their only senior player this year, Brayden Loyd, who put up seven strikeouts during Game 1 against the Warriors in five innings of work.

The Jackets went onto play in Calhoun on Wednesday, bumping up the schedule to avoid wet weather and a reschedule in a 14-0 victory.

Rockmart now sits in first place in Region 7-AA with a 3-0 record, sitting ahead of Haralson and Fannin, who both notched wins to open region play earlier in the week. North Murray, Murray County, Gordon Central and Model sit in the basement with losses.

Model hasn’t played in the region yet and sit at 0-0 for the moment.

After wrapping up their business for the week, the Jackets got a break for the weekend. They’ll be at home on Tuesday playing Ringgold in a non-region matchup, then have tournament play coming up with Alabama squads on March 17 against American Christian Academy and Whitesburg Christian Academy.

Region play resumes against Murray County on March 21 and March 24.
