Rockmart has some make-up work to do after a three-game skid to open the season, but there are chances a-plenty to get back on the right track.
The Jackets opened their season on Valentine’s Day facing off against North Paulding and fell in an 8-4 homestand against the Wolfpack.
The Pickens Mountain Classic ended with a pair of losses for the Jackets as well for the first weekend tournament of the season.
Fort Payne took a 4-3 win over the Jackets in Game 1, and then followed that up with a 5-3 loss to John’s Creek to close out Saturday play.
Stats weren’t immediately available for the squads three games as of press time.
Rockmart will have a chance to get back into the swing of things this week. The Jackets host Sonoraville on Wednesday, February 22, and Lamar County on Thursday, Feb. 23 before a break this coming weekend.
The Jackets then host Cedartown on Tuesday, Feb. 27 with, then drive across county to face the Bulldogs again on March 1.
Rockmart then gets a big opportunity: a Chattanooga tournament on a minor league field. The Lookouts’ AT&T Field will host the Jackets and the Ringgold Tigers for a March 2 showdown on a weekend date.
Region play opens against Gordon Central on March 5 on the road, a interlude with Cartersville on March 6, and then a double header at home to finish off the series with the Warriors on March 7.
