The season is about to heat up for the Rockmart Yellow Jackets as they prepare for their upcoming three-game White Tee World Series on Friday and Saturday, along with the start of the season – if the weather cooperates.

Friday evening is the scheduled start to the three-game event to help ensure the team has plenty of items they’ll need during the season, with parents pay admission with donations.

The opener is set for 5 p.m. on February 4 – if the fields are dry enough to play – followed by Saturday games on Feb. 5 scheduled for 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. if conditions allow for play.

In the meantime, Jacket Nation supporters got the opportunity to meet the team at a inaugural “Meet the Jackets” First Pitch Dinner on Tuesday, February 1 at In the Woods.

The fundraiser for the team included a Silent Auction and guest speaker Bob Culver.

The Jackets open their season in non-region play next Friday, February 11 at 5:30 p.m. in a scrimmage against North Cobb Christian, then have a non-region series on February 16 and February 18 between Pepperell. The two-game matchup opens in Lindale at 4 p.m. against the Dragons, then returns home on Feb. 18 as Rockmart hosts for a 5:30 p.m. first pitch.

The biggest games of the year between rival Cedartown are coming up on Friday, February 25 at 6 p.m. as the Bulldogs host first, then the following day they’ll battle it out again as Rockmart hosts to start at 2 p.m. on February 26.

Rockmart’s season gets into a rhythm starting on March 1 as they host Calhoun, then on March 3 at Rockmart, and a March 4 homestand against Woodland to wrap up their opening weeks of the year.
