The Rockmart Recreation Department posted this earlier in the day, and parents who planned to line up and watch their young ladies participate in opening day ceremonies for softball, you’ll have to wait until next Friday night.

A forecast promising rain and snow potential on Saturday is requiring a reschedule of the festivities that were on the calendar for this Saturday, and are now expected to coincide with the Friday night opening day parade in downtown Rockmart for Little League baseball.

Temperatures over the weekend are only expected to get to 39 during the day, and 19 overnight.

Cedartown’s Opening Day festivities will be held on the morning of Saturday, March 19.

Here’s the posting from the Rec Department:

Unfortunately we will be canceling the parade and the games scheduled for Saturday due to the possible bad weather. We will pick up the schedule on Tuesday the 15th. However, I know the girls love the parade so we will be joining in with boys baseball on Friday night the 18th. You will need to be there by 5:00 to line up and the parade starts at 6:00. There will not be a ceremony that night, we will just do the parade. We are moving the games from opening day to Thursday April 28th.
