Area under threat, but likely any severe weather is coming this evening and overnight
The National Weather Service has a stretch of North Alabama, North Georgia and Southern Tennessee and portions of North and South Carolina are under the threat of stormy weather – but the Level 2 slight risk isn’t as serious as recent forecasts from Peachtree City.
Scattered thunderstorms are expected during the early morning hours on Friday if they develop at all, with much of the scattered showers remaining north in Tennessee and North Carolina.
Some showers and potential thunderstorms will begin to develop over Alabama later this evening, and if they do become severe could bring heavy rain, strong winds and even the potential for hail.
NWS Peachtree City’s slight risk area includes Polk, Paulding and Haralson Counties – though that area could decrease in size as storms potentially develop.
Check back for any watches or warnings that develop through the rest of the night.
