Americans aren’t ones for celebrating Boxing Day on the holiday calendar, but it is still worth noting as the post-Christmas fun continues across the area. Except that sunshine enjoyed by all midweek has given way to cloudy skies and wind as more rain threatens to dampen the delights.
NWS meteorologists in Peachtree City put the high in Polk County just at 54 on the day, and a low of 43 as cloudy skies persist for Polk and will remain overhead overnight as well. Wind is going to be an issue as well, as gusts could range from 15 to 20 mph during the rest of the day and heading into the night hours.

Expect Friday’s forecast to come with higher chances of rain: 50% for the day tomorrow, and growing into the weekend as Friday night’s chance of wet weather increases to 80%, and is downright expected for the full day on Saturday.
Sunday’s forecast should bring some relief later in the day as Polk wakes up to chances for wet weather including thunderstorms in the morning, and watches as the system moves out and gives way to partly sunny skies.
Expect patchy fog heading into the start of the final days of 2024, and chances of rain to return by New Years Eve.
The New Year should start with sunshine and a high of 53.
