Warm Easter Weekend in store for the area forecast

Talk about a turnaround in the forecast in recent days. Temps dropped to something more akin to March weather over the past few days, but are turning around as the thermostat gets cranked up for Easter Weekend, starting with a Friday afternoon looking more like May.

NWS Peachtree City has the forecast for all across the region – Polk, Paulding and Haralson alike – sitting pretty with temperatures in the 80s and some mixed clouds to help provide a bit of relief from going to days in the 60s earlier this week.

The holiday weekend forecast opens with sunshine and highs up to the mid 80s, but gusty winds that could get up to 20 mph in some locations.

Wind gusts are expected to persist through Saturday (still up to 20 mph at times) and temperatures will push past 85 in locations around the area.

It’ll be much the same for Easter Sunday, but expect mostly cloudy skies for the day and temps in the mid-80s range in Polk, Paulding and Haralson for the holiday. No winds are in the forecast, so Easter bonnets and hats will likely survive Egg Hunts in the afternoon without issue.

Look for chances of rain to return on Monday, but the thermometer will still reach 80 degrees for the day with a 40% chance of afternoon showers, increasing to 50% by Monday Night and into Tuesday morning.

Extending into next week, chances of showers and thunderstorms will hang around through at least Wednesday, with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.

Look for overnight lows throughout the coming days to settle into the mid 50s to low 60s on the thermometer as April rushes toward the warmer weather brought on by May and the impending heat of summer.
