State Sen. Jason Anavitarte holds Constitutional Carry rally in Polk

State Senator Jason Anavitarte’s support for the second amendment and the right to carry a firearm was in full view last week when he hosted an October 6 rally outside of Rockmart, along with some special guests as well.

Senator Bruce Thompson (R-1th District,) along with Mike Collins, a candidate for the Georgia 10th district, spoke out about their views on state politics and voiced their support for the right for citizens to openly carry firearms in support of the second amendment.

The rally is part of an overall campaign to make Georgia a Constitutional Carry state, looking to join 21 others across the country – including Tennessee, though they only allow it for handguns.

What political leaders like Anavitarte, Thompson and Collins along with those at the rally showing their support for the measure are hoping to achieve to join the other states who don’t require a permit to carry a firearm like a handgun for protection.

Polk County Commissioners in early 2020 passed a resolution supporting the rights of citizens to be able to carry openly, becoming a Second Amendment Sanctuary county and joining more than a dozen others who had already taken up the measure.

State law still requires those who wish to carry a firearm on their person to obtain a permit to do so.
