Rockmart students stand out with artwork for State Sen. Anavitarte, RHS hallway mural

A piece of set to be showcased in the office of a State Senator and another already on the wall at Rockmart High School was celebrated by the Polk School District online on Thursday.

The district explained that local student artists were being honored by State Senator Jason Anavitarte with one piece of art that was recently completed, providing the opportunity to not only show off the talents of local youth but to also give the office of the 31st District a bit of the hometown flavor of Polk County.

The piece (see above) was commissioned to show off historic and famous landmarks here in Polk County, along with an outline of the county itself and the Polk School District logo.

District officials in their Facebook post didn’t stop there. RHS students were also celebrated for a new “You Matter” mural featuring a pair of wings on the wall at the high school.

Here’s the full post from the PSD, along with some additional photos:

CREATIVE. IMAGINATIVE. INFLUENTIAL. TALENTED.The art students at Rockmart High School did a PHENOMENAL job on these two projects! The first project was completed at the request of Georgia State Senator, Jason Anavitarte. The artwork will be displayed at the state Capitol to represent Polk County–one of the three counties he represents in Senate District 31. The second project is a mural students have been working on to remind everyone that #YOUMATTER! We are #BETTERTOGETHER! #psdtheplacetobe#PSDProud#bethechange#positivevibesonly
