The wild swing in the forecast continues for Polk County as rainfall that has already produced serious storms to the west arrives in Georgia overnight, just in time for a slippery morning commute.
The National Weather Service is predicting that rain should begin sometime after 3 a.m. and continue until around the lunch hour, bringing at least a tenth of an inch of accumulation and upward to a quarter inch in some areas.
Along with rain showers and a potential for storms expected with the incoming system, wind gusts upward to 30 mph are possible.
No watches or warnings have yet been posted as of this late hour.
Temperatures are going to take a big swing on Thursday as well. NWS Peachtree City forecasters put the high for the day at 70, then behind the storms will be a cold front that will drop the temperatures significantly.
Overnight lows are predicted to be down to 36 degrees. Heading into the weekend, the NWS has Polk County looking at highs in the mid 50s, and lows down into the 30s overnight. Rain is expected to return by Sunday and heading into the beginning of the coming week.
