April showers return through the week across the area

Beautiful, sunny weather for Easter is at an end as April showers returned to the area this morning, and will be sticking around for the coming days per the National Weather Service forecast.

The first round of showers should relent by early afternoon, but are being followed up during the commute home with second round pushing through starting around 4:30 p.m. So these on again, off again showers will likely be the pattern for the week.

Temperatures will remain in a seasonal range for the coming days in the 70s to 80s, but look for rainfall on and off through the rest of the week an into the weekend as the Peachtree City forecast calls for a fluctuation between decreasing and increasing chances for thunderstorms mixed in with the wet stuff as well.

Potential for rain finally begins to taper off on Sunday, when chances fall to 20% and sunshine is predicted for the day.

Based on current predictions, at least half of an inch of rain to two inches could fall over the coming days, if not more.

The latest round of showers is due to a low pressure wave settling over the southeast and allowing for warmer Gulf waters to be drawn up into the atmosphere and move inland to spread across the Southeast and into the Midwest through the coming days.

The front will eventually reach as far north as the Canadian border into Minnesota and Wisconsin by the end of the week, and will keep temperatures stable in the upper 70s through the low 80s during the day despite the rain, and down into the upper 50s and low 60s overnight across the area.
