The National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect through 11 p.m. this evening.
The watch was put in place for Polk, Paulding, Haralson, and Carroll counties. The cities of Cedartown, Bremen, Carrollton and eastward to Dallas are all in the line for these storms moving into the area from Dade County in the north to the southwest down I-59 through Alabama and are currently impacting Gadsden to Birmingham along this line.
The storms are severe and could produce damaging winds, hail, frequent lightning and heavy rain.
If you are able, do avoid being out on the roadways over the coming hours as these storms begin to impact the area.
Polk County EMA additionally sent out a severe thunderstorm warning in place until 8 p.m. as the storms should begin impacting Polk first based on the northeast to southwest line.
