That was a close one…

Welp. Some good news, folks.

Despite my efforts to completely break things on Wednesday afternoon and evening, before finally calling it quits I was able to get to some resolution to some problems occuring in the new system as I tried to fix some issues, and implement new features.

Somewhere during the process of setting up all the security, the speed-enhancing features, the ad and subscription software, and the piece that ties all the domains together. Somewhere in the stages of this process, I done messed up in the setup.

Recognizing this and wanting to take some steps toward mitigating these issues before we end up in the same place as the last go round, I plan to take some immediate steps and some long term changes in my approach to two ultimate goals: a combined system where folks can get news in one place and not require multiple logins across multiple websites, and a combined system I can work in allowing me to decrease the amount of things I need to keep up with overall. I want ad sales to work. I want things to just work. Is that so much to ask without having a Ph.D in computer science?

I 100% believe this is possible. I just think some steps were missed along the way. No one to blame but myself. I take full responsibility for how we got here, and what needs to happen to move forward.

Since I’m having to take some steps backward before moving forward, here’s how I’m going to approach this: first, update content to ensure everyone has something to read for the day. Then I’m taking a brief break before I tackle exterminating the variety of software bugs I just created over these attempts to get things to work during the last several days.

For the time being, things are back to where we left them Wednesday before I implemented the system for online ad sales. That will hopefully be available when this process is completed.
