A Cedartown-area woman who was found in Coweta County in May holding onto a stolen tax check, and is now back in Polk County to face additional charges.
Senioa Police in Coweta County on May 19 found Jenny Marie Ramirez, 52, of a Cedartown address, at a Circle K gas station after a clerk flagged down an officer pumping gas and reported she had been in the store for more than 24 hours.
While they were investigating the incident, the officer at the Senioa PD found Ramirez in possession of a tax return check that was issued to two other people in Cedartown.
When the officer down in Coweta County (southwest of Atlanta) contacted PCPD to ask them to follow up, the couple who were notified of what was happening “knew something happened to it” since it was supposed to be delivered in mid March. They additionally told police that they had trouble in getting a new check from the state.
Police reported the victims noted issues with Ramirez because “there is constant activity and behavior at Jenny’s house” which lead them to believe she might have been a suspect in the case of the missing check.
Ramirez was charged in Coweta County and placed in custody for theft by receiving stolen property.
She was extradited to Polk County on Sunday and remains in jail on felony charges of two counts of theft by taking, two counts of theft of lost or mislaid property and theft by possession of stolen mail.
Ramirez remains in jail on a $12,000 bond.
