Wet weather doesn’t stop hikers on Pinhoti Trail over the weekend

Considering how nasty the weather was on Saturday this past weekend, it takes a real hiker to traverse the woods when it is wet outside.

Saturday’s rain showers didn’t stop a small group of hikers who went out on the Pinhoti Trail in western Polk County for a 5.8 mile jaunt to the state line and back (2.9 miles one way, and 2.9 miles back) in an event put together by Keep Polk Beautiful following their successful Rivers Alive cleanup in Rockmart.

The hike starting at Hematite Lake stopped at the state line where flags are raised for each state along the Pinhoti Trail, and then turned back around. Hikers also enjoyed lunch during the event, and Himes Electrical provided shirts for Keep Polk Beautiful for the group to take home as well.

Himes Electrical also provided additional shirts to hand out during future events.

Those interested in future events can get in touch with Keep Polk Beautiful Executive Director Randy Cook at rcook@cedartowngeorgia.gov.
