Mr. Wayne Hardy

Mr. Wayne Hardy, age 81, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2025.

Wayne was born in Rome, GA, on February 16, 1944, a son of the late Franklin D. Hardy and Mary Emma Cliffie Deems Hardy.

He had lived the greater part of his life in Polk County and was a member and deacon of Rockmart Church of Christ.

Wayne was a veteran of the United States Air Force having 30 years of service, both active and reserves. He had been stationed at Lackland AFB, Kesler AFB, Robbins AFB and Wheeler AFB. Wayne started his working career working in the cotton fields as a boy. He was a bag boy at Braswell’s Grocery Store and also worked in the sock factory in Cedartown. Wayne also worked in the Goodyear Mill in Rockmart, worked for the United States Postal Service for 16 years and had owned Hardy’s TV Repair.

He had also worked for Boyd Brothers, C.W. Matthews Paving Company and retired from Wayne Davis Concrete. Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by a grandson, Travis Hardy; four brothers, Richard Reeves, Charles Reeves, Paul Edward Reeves, and Freddy Reeves; sister, Julie Reeves.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Rebecca Williams Hardy, whom he married December 6, 1963; daughter Cheryl Camp (Derek); sons Charles Hardy (Brian Jordan), Chris Hardy (Mary Ann); grandchildren, Brandon Wade Denton, Brittany Renee Ray, Seth Avery Watts, Nikki Watts Meier, Zachary Tyler Hardy, Madison Johnson, and McKenley King; great-grandchildren, Macallister James Denton, Katie Ray, Ethan Ray, Eloise Mae Ray, Levi Johnson, and Luke Johnson.

Funeral services for Wayne will be held on Thursday afternoon, April 10, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Minister Josh Clevenger officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with Brown-Wright Post 12 Honor Guard of the American Legion conferring military rites.

Wayne’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Thursday from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will include Zach Hardy, Tony Reeves, Phillip Ray, Tony Smith, Terry Meier, Tony Tran, Seth Watts, and Ethan Ray. Honorary pallbearers will include Mikey Williams, Brandon Denton, Gary Reeves, and Kevin Reeves.

Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home & Crematory has charge of the arrangements for Wayne Hardy.
