
One man is in jail, another is being sought as a suspect and police now have some answers as to what happened to Lachancey Williams of Cedartown after he was found inside of a toolbox on Esom Hill Road in Polk County.
Eric Kyle Hooper, 28, of Centre – who was previously in jail on a failure to appear warrant in Polk County – was released on charges locally and turned over to the Cherokee County, Alabama Sheriff’s Office and now faces murder and other charges in Alabama. A second suspect, 38-year-old Nick Silvers, is being sought at this time for questioning.
He is a resident of Cherokee County, and is believed to be in the area according to a release on the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page this morning.

Polk County Police investigators determined that Williams wasn’t killed in Polk County, but across the state line in Cherokee County, Alabama.
Their investigative efforts were turned over to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and they offered their assistance until charges were filed. Williams was found in mid-March by a Public Works road crew who discovered him inside of the truck toolbox left on the side of the roadway.

Hooper is being held on a $1.5 million bond after extradition on local charges.
His official charges in Alabama are murder and theft by receiving stolen property in the third degree.

One Person Charged with Murder, One Person of Interest Wanted for Questioning…
Sheriff Jeff Shaver and Sheriff’s Office investigators are enlisting help from the public in locating a person of interest in connection to a homicide that took place in March, just outside of Centre.
According to Sheriff Shaver, Polk County road crew workers discovered the body of Lachancey Williams, 40 of Cedartown, while doing road work along Esom Hill Road on March 15th. The person of interest wanted for questioning is identified as 38 year-old Nick Silvers.
Silvers is a resident of Cherokee County and known to be in the area. According to Chief Deputy Josh Summerford, one person has been arrested and charged with Murder in connection to this homicide. Eric K. Hooper, 28 of Centre, was placed in the Cherokee County Jail on April 14th, after being extradited from the jail in Polk County, Georgia.
Hooper is being held on a $1.5-million-dollar bond.
